VINTAGE & VITICULTURE
The season began with a mild winter and early spring. March was particularly warm and after a couple of frost scares the rest of spring was warmer and drier. By June the vines were well into the growth cycle. The summer continued the pattern of hot, dry conditions, with temperatures averaging 3-4 degrees above normal. Irrigation became an essential tool by mid summer and allowed the vines to stay strong and healthy. The grapes developed early and maintained a rapid ripening and this resulted in an early harvest. This vintage should go down as one of Niagara’s best.
