The season began with a mild winter and early spring. March was particularly warm and after a couple of frost scares the rest of spring was warmer and drier. By June the vines were well into the growth cycle. The summer continued the pattern of hot, dry conditions, with temperatures averaging 3-4 degrees above normal. Irrigation became an essential tool by mid-summer and allowed the vines to stay strong and healthy. The grapes developed early and maintained a rapid ripening. A three acre block of Cabernet Sauvignon was left for Icewine.
